Mary Ellen Strack

Mary Ellen Strack, age 96, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 9:27 pm on Sunday September 18, 2022.  Born on November 28, 1925, in Allen County, she was the daughter of Carl and Esther (Feltz) Fox.

Mary Ellen attended South Side High School for two years and then attended Central Catholic High School for two years and graduated with the Class of 1943.

On November 27, 1947, she married James Lyle Strack, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fort Wayne.  They have lived on the Strack Family Farm since 1955.  Mary Ellen worked for General Electric, Fort Wayne for several years and then worked for Precision Plastics, Columbia City for 10 years.  Mary Ellen was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Arcola, American Legion Post, Moose Lodge, VFW, all in Columbia City.  She was also Past Manager of Columbia City Women’s Bowling Association for many years.

Survivors include her children Tom (Loretta) Strack and Cynthia “Cis” (Jay Miller) Berghoff; grandchildren Ryan (Kara) McCammon, Rod (Gina) Strack, Rachelle Patrick and Jennifer (James Davis) Strack; great-grandchildren Hunter, Ethan, Lewis, Eli, Claudia and Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Strack, son Phillip Strack, brothers Jack and William “Bill” Fox, and sister Betty Mathers

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday September 21, 2022, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with a reciting of the Rosary at 3:45 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday September 22, 2022, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 12305 Arcola Rd, Arcola with calling one hour prior.

Burial will follow in Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne.

Memorial donations may be given in memory toward Masses at St. Patrick's Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
