Alice H. McQueen, 88, of South Whitley, passed away at 5:06 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her residence.Born on September 10, 1926 in Cambria, Wis., she was the daughter of William Hayden and Margaret (Jones) Hughes.
Alice attended Fall River High School in Fall River, Wis. and graduated with the Class of 1943.She married James E. McQueen, Sr. on March 10, 1945 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a homemaker for most of her life, but did work for a short time at the Blue Bell Jean Factory as an administrative assistant.
Survivors include her sons, Jim (Susan) McQueen, Ron (Julia) McQueen and Scott (Tammy) McQueen, all of Columbia City; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother Frank (Adele) Hughes of Blair, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James McQueen, Sr.; daughter, Kathie Henry; brothers, Edwin R. Hughes, Emryce Hughes, John R. Hughes, O. W. Hughes, Robert C. Hughes and William H. Hughes Jr.; sisters, Edith M. Hughes and Catherine A. Hughes Mills.
