ANTHONY D. TREECE

April 9, 1930 — September 16, 2012

Anthony D. Treece, 82, of Columbia City passed away at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Columbia City, IN. He was born on April 9, 1930 in Huntington, IN, the son of Claude Raymond and Alice (Reed) Treece.

He spent his childhood in Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1954. He first worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad before joining the United States Marine Corps. where he trained at Camp LeJeune and Paris Island.

He is survived by his wife Helen Treece, Columbia City; 2 sons, Alex (Debra) Treece, Elkhart and Greg Treece, South Whitley; 2 daughters, Teresa (Paul) McCoy and Kathy Heinfeld both of Columbia City; 2 sisters, Beverly (Paul) Chappel, Columbia City and Margaret (Elmer) Schrock, Ransom, KS; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 2 step sons, Lawrence and Lewis Mauk both of Columbia City. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Roger Treece.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 10-11 a.m.at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Harker officiating.Burial will be held at Marion National Cemetery, Marion. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard in Columbia City.
