Arloa L. Alvey, 86, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Born March 18, 1937, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late William Boese and Irma (Buettner) Boese.
Arloa spent her entire lifetime in the Fort Wayne and New Haven areas until moving to Columbia City in 1977. She was a graduate of New Haven High School and was a member of Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church. On July 29, 1977, she married Donald E. Alvey who passed away March 24, 2012. Arloa worked as a receptionist at the state developmental center. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, garage sales, going to the casino and she was a big CUBS fan.
Arloa is survived by her daughter, Angela Geiger, stepson, Steve (Susan)Alvey, sister, Beverly Garabedian; nephews, Tom (Jenny) Boese and David Boese; nieces, Lanette and Renae; and her beloved cat, Candycane. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amanda Jackson; grandson, Cory Alvey; and brother, LeRoy Boese.
Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 4, 2023, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery on Monday, November 6, 2023. Memorial donations may be given in memory of Arloa to Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Whitley County Humane Shelter.
