Barbara Jean Geiger

November 14, 1949 — January 10, 2025

Columbia City

Barbara Jean Geiger, 75, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on November 14, 1949, in Montevideo, Minnesota, she was a daughter of the late Donald "Buck" and Valeria (Bonk) Buchanan.

A graduate of Columbia City Joint High School, Class of 1967, Barb went on to earn an associate's degree with honors, from International Jr. Business College. Over the years, Barb built a successful career after college, beginning with her work at Peoples Trust Bank and later in Promotions at WOWO radio. She and Jim then relocated to Springfield, Ohio, where she worked in private banking. Upon returning to Columbia City, Barb worked as a district scheduler for CVS Pharmacy, retiring in 2014.

On October 10, 1970, she married James R. Geiger at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church in Columbia City, Indiana. Throughout her life, she remained a faithful member of that parish.

Barb's greatest joy came from her love of quilting, a craft that allowed her to channel her creativity into beautiful, heartfelt works of art. Each quilt she made was a cherished gift to family and friends, reflecting her deep affection for those she loved. Above all, Barb was a constant presence of support and love for her family and friends, always there for those who needed her.

Barb is survived by her siblings: Pat (John) Woenker, Dick (Jean) Buchanan, John (Bethann) Buchanan, Deb (Ray) Hoffman, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Also surviving Barb are brother and sisters-in-law, Jess and Kay Geiger, Joe and Joan Miller, Judy Demske and Cheri Geiger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Geiger (March 2003), her brother-in-law, Jerry Geiger, and her nephews, Kyle Balyeat, Joe Woenker and Jeff Geiger.

Barb's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
