Barry Alan Truman, age 69, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 10:36 pm on Wednesday October 23, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on August 30, 1955, in Columbia City, he was the son of James L. and Elizabeth (Harvey) Truman.

Barry attended Coesse and Columbia Township Schools. He then attended Howe Military School for 3 years before transferring to Columbia City Joint High School for his senior year and graduate with the Class of 1974. Barry went on to attend IPFW, Ivy Tech for Computer Science and Rose Hulman Smoke School.

On March 19, 1983, Barry married Kathleen A. Mallane in Columbia City.

Barry worked for the Indiana State Highway Department as a materials tester for the majority of his career. He also worked for E & B Paving for several years.

Barry was a member of Fraternal Order of Free & Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, Boy Scouts of America, and Fort Wayne Beard Society. He enjoyed working on cars, canoeing, yardwork, playing saxophone, computer gaming and chocolate labradors. Barry was also known to plan ahead and always be prepared in all that he did.

Survivors include his wife Kathleen Truman of Columbia City; children Beth Ann Slagal of Columbia City and Blake (Rita) Truman of Huntertown; 9 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father James L. Truman, mother Elizabeth “Betty” Zumbrun, son Brady Truman, and brother Bryan Truman.

In accordance with the wishes of Barry there will be no calling or funeral service.
