Betty R. Doudt

Betty R. Doudt, 98, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 5:15 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Westminster Village in Muncie. Born on May 3, 1916 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of E.O. and Ruth (Johnson) Ringwalt.

In her early years, Betty lived in Fort Wayne before moving to Laud in 1950. In 2000, she moved to Columbia City and recently moved to be closer to her son in Muncie. She graduated from South Side High School with the Class of 1934.On December 14, 1935, she married Henry Doudt. During the early years of her marriage, Betty worked in a telephone office in Fort Wayne and in 1965 she started working in the cafeteria at Lincoln Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Laud Christian Church and was an avid bingo and card player.

Survivors include her sons, David (Kim Ebersole) Doudt of Elgin, Ill. and Keith (Edie) Doudt of Muncie; grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Doudt of Noblesville, Heidi (Jarrod) Ramer of Kendallville, Jason (Denise) Doudt of Lacey, Wash., Sara Zollars of North Wales, PA and Anthony (Sara) Doudt of Raleigh, NC.; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry (Hank); brother, Paul Ringwalt; and sister-in-law, Susie Ringwalt.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with her memorial service to follow. Burial will be at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Doudt's memory to Westminster Village Residents' Assn. Tuition Assistance Fund or Laud Christian Church.
