Billy Wood

Billy Wood, age 94, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 7:45 pm on Sunday February 6, 2022, at his residence.  Born on November 11, 1927, in Coesse, IN, he was the son of Harold and Ellen (Judd) Wood.

Billy attended Coesse High School and graduated with the Class of 1946.  On June 28, 1947, Billy married Phyllis Perry in Columbia City.  Billy worked for International Harvester and was the Superintendent of Tooling until his retirement in 1983.

Billy was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge #155, Fort Wayne and Lodge #1417, Columbia City.  He also loved golfing, woodworking, and volunteering time at church.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Phyllis Wood of Columbia City; children Cheryl Lalevich, Deb (Miquel) Vasquez, both of Columbia City, and Chad (Bambi) Wood of Wolf Lake; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Bob (Barb) Wood and Jim Wood, both of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Sandra Wood, and granddaughter Nicole Crowell.

Friends may call on Wednesday February 9, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services for Billy will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday February 10, 2022, at the funeral home. His service may also be watched on DeMoney-Grimes Live beginning at 9:55 am.

Burial will follow in South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial contributions in memory of Billy may be made to Columbia City United Methodist Church-Building Fund.
