Brady Alan Truman

April 7, 1985 — September 13, 2016

An outgoing, fun-loving, and hardworking man, Brady Truman made life so much fun. He worked hard, but he also knew how to have fun along the way, and the experiences he loved were only better when shared with the people he loved. A devoted family man, Brady was so proud to be a father, and some his best moments were spent with the children he adored. Talented in several ways, he enjoyed sharing his gifts with others. Life will never be the same without Brady here, but he leaves behind a priceless collection of memories that his loved ones will forever cherish.

The 1980s were an exciting time in America. Camcorders, VCRs, and gaming systems became part of our culture while The Cosby Show, Family Ties, and Growing Pains were among the shows that entertained us in our living rooms. It was during this exciting time that Barry A. and Kathleen A. (Mallane) Truman were pleased to announce the birth of the baby boy they named Brady Alan on April 7, 1985, at Whitley County Memorial Hospital. He was the second of three children in his family as he was raised in the family home in the South Whitley area alongside his older sister, Beth, and his younger brother, Blake. As a boy he enjoyed things like riding his bike, playing with his trucks, being with friends, playing video games, swimming, and going to Shriner Lake. He always looked forward to going to the lake where his grandparents had a place. As he got older, his Grandpa Phil, who was very selective when it came to who could drive the boat, even let him drive them around the lake.

While In elementary school he played baseball, and by middle school he was into football and golf. By the time he started at Whitko High School, he enjoyed golf so much that he was on the golf team. Brady would go on to graduate from Whitko High School in 2003.

Throughout his life Brady was a hard worker. When he was 12 he did not want a gift that was typical for a young boy, but he asked for a lawnmower instead. He then started his own business mowing lawns and had the slogan, We cut green for the green. By the age of 14 Brady was legally able to help his mom at her work and had already been helping her at Grace College in the Alpha Dining. As he got a little older Brady also started working at Richards Restaurant in Columbia City, and after graduating he worked at Autoliv. Brady was most recently working as a materials scheduler at Advanced Assembly in Columbia City where he had been for the past 10 years.

Not to be forgotten during his years at Autoliv was his introduction to the woman who would change the course of his life forever. Her name was Darci R. Banker, and they met at work. They began dating, and with a desire to establish a life together they were married on September 30, 2006, at Columbia City United Methodist Church where Brady and his family had been attending. Together they welcomed two children, Braxton and Dylan, into their hearts and home. Family was always first and foremost in Bradys life, and they did all kinds of things together. Among their favorites were going to water parks, snow sledding, visiting places like Chicago, Illinois, and Kalahari Resorts, and Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Brady and his family also went to movies and fireworks, and they even did some zip lining at The Wilds in Ohio. Rugged Adventures in Winamac, Indiana, was another place that the Trumans made some amazing memories. Brady enjoyed taking Braxton and driving around in his truck as well as singing and dancing with his daughter, Dylan. This past year the two went to her first father daughter dance through the school.

As someone who liked being busy, Brady was always doing something. He was a gifted mechanic who enjoyed working and restoring the classic Jeep Wagoneers. Brady also belonged to the Indiana Full Size Jeep Club. He was a great cook, and he was quite the jokester who loved pranking others. Among his most famous pranks were the times he lit off fire crackers and tossed them into the room with his family or friends. A music lover, Brady enjoyed classic rock and liked going to concerts. With a well-groomed red beard, he was proud to let you know he belonged to the Fort Wayne Beard Society.

With unending devotion to his family and friends, Brady Truman brought the world around him to life. He worked hard, but he played hard, too, and he was always dressed to impress. A more devoted family man would be hard to find, and in many ways he was just a kid at heart. Brady loved having a good time, and he enjoyed teasing others as well. Deeply loved, Brady will be forever missed.
