C. Russell Clawson, age 93, of 325 Shorewood Court, Columbia City, IN 46725 died at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at The Oaks Living Center, Columbia City, IN. He was born in Warren County, IN on July 21, 1914 to George Benton and Bessie (Jones) Clawson.
He was raised in Warren County, IN and since 1936 he has lived in Whitley County, IN. He attended Warren County Schools graduating from Pine Village High School with the class of 1936. His first marriage was to Mary Katherine Clawson in 1938 in Columbia City, IN. She passed away on April 24,1974. He then married Meryle K. Repp on January 4, 1975 on the Isle of Guam. She passed away on September 26, 2005. He retired in 1979 form Dana Corporation-Axle Division, Fort Wayne, IN after 31 years of service. He was a member of Tri-Lakes Baptist Church.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Paul Allen (Kay) Clawson, Kimmell, IN; David Wayne (Bonnie) Clawson, Chaska, MN; 2 daughters, Karen Lorinne (David) Swineheart, Fort Wayne, IN; Rosemary Ellen (Steve) Brown, Columbia City, IN; 1 step son, David Norman Repp, San Diego, CA; 4 step daughters, Linda Lee (Dan) Wagner, Banning, CA; Julia Jane (Lloyd) Nixon, Hemet, CA; Rhea Irwin (Robert) Kuhnert, Chino Hills, CA; Lizbeth Ann (Lou) Repp , San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Elma Russell, Attica,IN; Birdena Stead, Brookston, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Mary Katherine Clawson, second wife, Meryle K. Clawson, step-daughter, Marilyn Jennings and step-son, Randy Repp; 3 sisters, Genevieve Johnston, Jewel Clawson and Gemma Clawson; 2 brothers, Linden and James Clawson.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the Tri Lakes Baptist Church with Pastors Dave Schiedel and David Swineheart officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery, Columbia City, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Clawsons memory to Tri-Lakes Baptist Church or Roving Volunteers in Christ Service.
