CARL E. BECKER

Carl E. Becker, age 89, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away at 12:31 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.Born on May 7, 1923 in Pulaski County, he was the son of Peter and Matilda (Moise) Becker.

He graduated from Winamac High School with the Class of 1941.Carl served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943-1946. He has been a Allen County resident since 1946. On January 10, 1948, he married Mildred A. Ross at St. Paul Catholic Church.He worked at International Harvester/Navistar, Fort Wayne retiring with 34 years of service.Carl was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Arcola and the UAW.

Survivors include his daughter, Betty J. Nitz of Albuquerque, NM; 5 sons, Ronald P. (Alice) Becker of Stockbridge, GA; Nicholas C. (Ginger) Becker of Kansas City, MO; Michael J. (Debra) Becker of Covington, GA; Timothy P. (Patricia) Becker of Fort Wayne; Edward C. (Mary) Becker of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; 1 sister, Pauline Fites of Winamac; 2 brothers, Thomas (Francis) Becker of South Bend and Jack (Mary Catherine) Becker of Winamac.He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred, 4 brothers, Clem, Ralph, Richard and Eugene Becker, 4 sisters, Alberta Wank, Helen Johnson, Mary Lou Dorniesfiee and Joan Beehler.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.A Rosary service will be held at 4:30 at the funeral home.Funeral mass will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Alex Dodrai officiating.Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Whitley County Korean War Veteran's Honor Guard.Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Becker to the masses.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
