CAROLYN J. KESSIE

November 11, 1936 — June 4, 2011

Carolyn J. Kessie, age 74, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 5:35 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 11, 1936 in Whitley County, Ind., she was the daughter of Paul C. and Violet M. (Dolly) Boggs.

She was a lifetime resident of Whitley County.She attended Thorncreek School and graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1954. On June 9, 1957, she married Dick D. Kessie at Troy Presbyterian Church, Whitley County.She worked at Nipsco from 1954-1978, 5C's Nursing Home, Dr. Vogel's office and for Dr. Bryan Wait as an office assistant from 1989 to 2006.She was also co-owner of D Crafts and Woodworking.She was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church where she was the organist and pianist for many years.She is currently a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church.Other memberships include Columbia City-Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile, as well as Shrine Lady, Whitley County Shrine Club.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Dick D. Kessie of Columbia City; daughters, Cerese (Jim) R. Brock and Terri (Chris) A. Clupper of Columbia City; sons, Dennis (Aimee) P. Kessie of Braidwood, Ill.; Doug (Tina) D. Kessie of South Whitley; brother, Paul "Butch" (Louisa) C. Boggs of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Emily and Abbey Brock, Justin and Tyler Clupper, Alexandra, Mason and Wyatt Kessie, Kayla, Joshua and Cole Kessie; great-grandson, Aiden Linn.She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Ind.Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at South Whitley Cemetery.Memorials in Carolyn's memory may be given to Shriner's Chicago Hospital for Children, Columbia City United Methodist Church Building Fund or Parkview Whitley Home Health and Hospice.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
