Carolyn Kay Wilson

Carolyn Kay Wilson, age 83, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Friday morning, August 16, 2024, at Majestic Care West Allen. Born August 9, 1941, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of James A. and Violet M. (Clark) Rosen Sr.

A lifelong resident of Whitley County, Carolyn graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1959. On November 6, 1982, she married Robert Wilson. Carolyn had been a manager at the American Legion Post 98 from 1980-1983 and in 1985 worked for Raytheon in Whitley County, retiring from Autoliv. She was a member of the Moose Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary in Columbia City. Carolyn was an avid writer, crafter, and bird watcher in her free time.

Survivors include her children Christine Jenkins, Alan (Susan) Van Houten, both of Columbia City, and John Kramer of Churubusco; grandsons David Jenkins of Roann, Steven (Delrae) Jenkins of Columbia City, Benjamin (Randi) Jenkins of Grabill, and Jade (Savannah) Hendry of Fort Wayne; and numerous great-grandchildren; brother, James Rosen Jr.; brother-in-law, James Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Rosen Sr., mother Violet Graves, husband, Bob Wilson; sister, Shirley Bradley; son-in-law, Kim David Jenkins; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Jenkins.

A memorial gathering will be from 1:00-5:00 pm on, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

She will be laid to rest at Union Township Cemetery by her first husband, David Van Houten. 

Memorial contributions in memory of Carolyn may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
