Catharine G. Shinn, age 89, of Columbia City, died at 11:50 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. Born in Van Wert, OH on October 21, 1918, she was the daughter of Eugene and Helen L.(Webber) King. Raised in Van Wert, OH, she graduated from Van Wert High School with the Class of 1936 and she attended International Business College for 1 year. On July 30, 1939, she was married to Paul H. Shinn in Van Wert, OH. From 1953 to 1974, she resided in Fort Wayne, IN moving to Whitley County, Indiana in 1974. She moved to Columbia City in 1998. A bookkeeper and accountant, she was employed by The Rental Center, Fort Wayne, IN until her retirement and the business was sold in 1974. She was an active member of Big Lake Church of God, Columbia City.Survivors include sons, Charles Shinn of New Haven, IN and Ray (Doris) Shinn of Youngstown, FL; 4 grandchildren, Paul (Kimberly) Shinn of Woodburn, IN, Mark Shinn of Toledo, OH, Diane Shinn of Spring Lake, NC and Deborah (Bryant) Larimore of Fort Rucker, AL; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Howard Shinn, brother, Richard Webber King and a sister, Louise L. Wallace.Both visitation with the family at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. funeral service following calling will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Big Lake Church of God, 6955 State Road 109, Columbia City, IN. Pastor Tim Kumfer of Big Lake Church of God will officiate. Burial is at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in Mrs. Shinn's memory to Horizon International.
