Charlene D. Relue

Charlene D. Relue, age 77 of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 12:15 am on Sunday November 15, 2020 at Miller’s at Oak Pointe, Columbia City.  Born on December 27, 1942 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Charles and Christine (Neireiter)Laubscher.

Charlene attended South Side High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. She worked at Parnell Park Nursing Home for 8 years, then Lincoln Life Insurance Company for 14 years.  Charlene then worked at Parkview Randallia Hospital in laundry, later becoming part of Hospital Laundry Service for 22 years until her retirement in 2009.

She enjoyed serving her community, being active at Big Lake Church of God as a member, and spending time with her grandchildren.  Charlene was also very musical.  She loved playing the piano and organ.

Survivors include her children Kenna (Jon) Gray of Albion and Daniel (Sheila Murdock) Relue of Fort Wayne; grandchildren William Relue, Audrey (Eric Eling) Gray, Bridgette Gray, Ashleigh Gray, and Courtney Gray; great-granddaughter Emelise Gray; sister Cheri (Clifford) Purple of New Haven; nephew Todd Purple of New Haven.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call on Thursday November 19, 2020 from 10:00am-12:00pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive Columbia City. With the current Executive Order, face masks are required for attendance.

Funeral services for Charlene will follow at 12:00 pm on Thursday November 19, 2020 at the funeral home, with limited seating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.

Memorial contributions in memory of Charlene may be made to Big Lake Church of God.
