Charles R. Weaver, age 90, of South Whitley, IN, passed away at 4:33 pm on Thursday April 11, 2024, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. Born on August 13, 1933, in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of Ralph Weaver and Helen (Hummel) Snyder.
Chuck attended school in Pennsylvania, then proudly served his country in the United States Army as a telephone switchboard operator in Japan during the Korean War. On January 7, 1956, he married Virginia A. Moore. They lived in California before moving to Indiana, first in Larwill, and then in South Whitley for over 40 years.
He was very good natured, helpful, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone. Chuck enjoyed tinkering and fixing just about anything he could get his hands on, in addition to playing golf and tennis.
He worked as an offset printer at Stumps Printing in South Whitley for many years before working at Caramet Nursing Home, Warsaw in maintenance until his retirement in 1995.
Survivors include his children, Cathy Steinman of New Haven and Dane (Brenda) Weaver of Warsaw; sister Cindy (Tim) Heffley of Auburn; grandchildren Eric (Connie) Steinman, Greg Weaver, and Brittany (Travis) Hartman; great-grandchildren Grant Steinman, Hannah Steinman, Micah Hartman, and Kyleigh Hartman.
He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Snyder, wife Virginia Weaver, brothers Pete Weaver and Ollie Weaver, and son-in-law Ron Steinman.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday May 3, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 pm at a DeMoney Grimes, Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Memorial contributions in memory of Chuck may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati.
