Charley Duty, 68, of Pierceton, IN passed away at 11:24 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past few months. Born on May 5, 1940 in Van Lear, KY he was the son of Russell and Georgene (Adams) Duty. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Kentucky. At the age of 16, he moved to Indiana. On February 6, 1989 he married Brenda Gaile Collier in Paintsville, KY. For the past 28 years, he has lived at his present home in Pierceton. He was a retired machinist for Zimmer, Inc., Warsaw, IN serving over 20 years. Survivors include his wife Brenda Gaile Duty, Pierceton, IN; 6 children, Troy Duty, Warsaw, IN, Georgina (Paul)Taber, Paducah, KY, Tammie (Tom) Davis, Warsaw, IN, Roy (Deb) Fields, Pierceton, IN, Charles (Kim) Newman, Goshen, IN and Jessica Fields, Pierceton, IN; 6 grandchildren; 5 brothers and sisters, Larry (Nancy) Duty, Van Lear, KY, Tom Duty, Paintsville, KY, Jack (Sue) Duty, Blacksburg, VA, Marie (Stoney) Rowland, Stanton, KY and Judy Ann (Earl) Ward, Sr., Claypool, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters, Arville Duty, Russell Duty, III, Ted Duty, Don Duty, Virgie Duty and Virgil Duty.Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the funeral home with DeMoney-Grimes Certified Funeral Celebrants, Eddie P. Beagles and Sharon Brockhaus.
