Charlotte Ann Scheiber, age 76, of Columbia City, IN passed away peacefully at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, IN. Born on May 21, 1933 in Huntington, IN, she was the daughter of Herman and Hazel (Ellsroth) Eckert.She was born and raised in Huntington, IN moving to Columbia City in 1969. She also lived on Lake Wawasee from 1980-1990 returning to Columbia City in 1990. Her winter home was in Naples, FL. She graduated from Huntington Catholic High School with the Class of 1952. On May 22, 1954, she married Robert E. Scheiber in Huntington, IN. Charlotte was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church.Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert E. Scheiber of Columbia City, IN; 1 son, Jeffrey (Dianne) Scheiber of Huntertown; 4 daughters, Jennifer (Dale) Homan of Fort Recovery, OH; Jill Scheiber of Columbia City; Jacqueline (Michael) Koher of Cromwell and Joannie (David) Wert of Noblesville; grandchildren, Joshua Lickey of Columbia City, Megan Loe of Fort Recovery, OH, Tyler, Corey (Kayla) and Emily Green all of Columbia City, Kyle (Jessie) Flumbaum of Albion, Derek and Haleigh Wert both of Noblesville; 1 great grandchild, Gabriel Lickey of Columbia City; 2 sisters, Imogene Gressley and Barbara (Ralph) Johnson, both of Huntington; 2 brothers, William Eckert of Fort Wayne and Robert Eckert of Wolf Lake; and 7 step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Herman Eckert, Jr.Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 with a Catholic Prayer Vigil starting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 South Line Street, Columbia City with Father Larry Kramer officiating. Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Scheiber to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
