Claude Ousley, age 78, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 9:17 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at his home.Born on April 25, 1934,in Risner, KY, he was the son of James Lee and Nancy Jane (Pitts) Ousley.
He graduated from Prestonsburg High School with the Class of 1953. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Indiana.He served in the Army and National Guard. On February 2, 1963, he married Vonda Tillman at Silver Lake. He worked at White Metal Rolling and Stamping, Warsaw; owned and operated Silver Lake Skating Rink for several years; retired with 30 years of service from International Harvester, also known as Navistar, at Springfield, OH, and managed Tillman's Trailer Court for 22 years. In his spare time, he loved singing Country Western and Blue Grass Music and riding his motorcycles and horses.He was a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vonda Ousley of Columbia City; daughters, Brenda (Rick) Reynolds, Teri Lynn (Chad) Fields, both of Columbia City and Janie (Curt) Salisbury of Prestonsburg, KY; daughter-in-law, Teresa Ousley; grandchildren, Kyle, Alyssa, and Andrew Reynolds, Ryan and Adam Ousley, Nolan and Violet Fields all of Columbia City; Ricky McGuire of Ohio, Kayla Tackett, Ariel and Danielle Salisbury of Prestonsburg, KY; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Evie (George) Thornsbury of Prestonsburg, KY; brothers, Gardis (Maudie) Ousley of Prestonsburg, KY, and Edgel (Sandra) Ousley of Mentone.He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Martin Ousley died February 2, 2010; brothers, Adam, Vernon, and James Elva Ousley and infant sister, Lizzie Ousley.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral service is Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Tash and Reverend Barry Faucett officiating. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Ousley to New Hope Wesleyan Church.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
