David J. Mills, 22, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away Friday, January 24, 2014. Born on May 2, 1991 in Ft. Wayne, he was the son of Bill R. Mills and Pamela G. (Becker) Mills.
He attended Roanoke Baptist School until 2008 and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 2009. David received his Bachelor's Degree from IPFW in Business Law in May of 2013. He had recently applied to the Navy to achieve a goal of becoming an Aircraft Carrier Pilot.David had worked at Sycamore Hills Golf Course in Ft. Wayne and was a Substitute Teacher in Whitley and Wabash County. He attended Sugar Creek Fellowship and enjoyed basketball, softball, working out at the YMCA. He was an avid golfer, winning many awards.
Survivors include his father, Bill Mills of Ft. Wayne; mother, Pam Mills of Columbia City; sisters, Jill Mills of Columbia City, Meredith (Braden) Handley of Ft. Wayne and Angela (Hank) Fehr of Aylmer, Ontario, Canada; brothers, Greg (Brandie) Mills of Roanoke and Jeff (Kylie) Mills of Ft. Wayne; five nieces; two nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother Terry Mills.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.Memorial gifts may be given in Davids memory to the Whitley County YMCA.Please visit
