Delilah V. Dee Bishop, age 84, of Columbia City, IN died at 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at The Oaks, Columbia City. Born May 6, 1926 she was the daughter of Jesse and Anna Bertha (Cokahnour) Jacobs.
She graduated from the Ohio public school system. As a young girl, her family moved to Portland, IN and she moved to Columbia City in 1951. On December 15, 1949 she was united in marriage to Waron H. Bishop in Fort Wayne. He died November 20, 2000. A wife, mother and homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include sons, Monte (Carolyn) Bishop of Columbia City and Leroy (Karen) Bishop of Cross Creek, FL; daughters, Marlane Cochlin of Columbia City and Ramona (Kit) Goldwood of Columbia City; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, James, Wilbur, Ford and Carlos Jacobs and sister, VernaBelle Hamerick.
At the request of the family, all services were private. Following the service, Mrs. Bishop was laid to rest beside her husband at South Park Cemetery, Columbia City, IN. Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Bishop to Woodlands Senior Center. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
