Dennis E. Hinen

Dennis E. Hinen, 75, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Born November 30, 1948, in Wolf Lake, Indiana, he was a son of the late Lester and Betty (Gale) Hinen. 

He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School, Class of 1967. On September 16, 1967, he married Mary Alice Wilcoxson at Grace Lutheran Church in Columbia City, Indiana. Dennis was a proud farmer, but he also built pull barns for Vern Saggars, worked at Anderson Oil Company driving a gas truck. Additionally, he worked for Weatherhead, Egolf Grains and retired from Fort Wayne Foundry when they closed in 2010. Dennis was on the Thorncreek Fire Department and also Whitley County Soil and Conservation District. 

Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Hinen; children, Todd Michael (Trisha) Hinen, Lisa (Clint) Wall, and Danny (Darla) Hinen; grandchildren, Skylar (Mitchell) Onley, Trey (Alyssa) Hinen, Trent Hinen, Peyton Wall, Parker Wall, and Sydnee Hinen; step grandchildren, Tyler Maggart, Landon Maggart, and Kyle Maggart; great-grandchildren, Rowan, MJ, Teddy, and another on the way; siblings, Penny Sue (Troy) Hinen-Kramer, and Jerry (Marna) Hinen; and brother-in-law, Matthew Dahms. Along with his parents Dennis is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Dahms.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Indiana.
