DEWEY W. GOUDY

October 23, 1923 — July 15, 2010

Dewey W. Goudy, age 86, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 4:07 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, IN.Born on October 10, 1923 in Thorncreek Township, IN, he was the son of George Dewey and Minnie G. (Walda) Goudy.

He was raised in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, IN and came to Columbia City when he returned from serving in Italy with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.He received his early education in the public schools of Thorncreek Township, Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1941.He also attended International Business College.He was united in marriage with Betty L. Method on January 16, 1946 at First Church of God, Columbia City.He was employed by Columbia City Weatherhead Company for 40 years, retiring in 1986.He was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City where he was active in many various ministries, the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post 98, Columbia City.

Survivors include his son, Dr. William D. (Mary) Goudy of Auburn; daughter, Beth (Edward) Sarapata of West Harrison, IN; 3 grandsons, Jeff Goudy of Denver, CO, Nick Goudy of Fort Wayne and Michael (Jocelyn) Sarapata of Lawrenceburg; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnetia Hager of Hyattsville, MD; brothers, Robert J. Goudy of Portage, and Walter E. (Lois) Goudy of Van Wert, OH.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty Goudy in May of 1999, grandson, Brian Sarapata, and brother, Ralph D. Goudy.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 2-6 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Johnny McCallister of First Church of God Columbia City officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery, Columbia City, IN.Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Goudy's memory to First Church of God.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Please visit www.demoneygrimes.com to send family condolences or sign the guest register book.
