Donnis Irene Hasty, age 89, formerly of Columbia City, IN, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper, Wyoming. Born August 30, 1923 in Burket, IN, she was the daughter of Hobart and Mildred (Tucker) Holloway.
Raised in Burket, IN, she graduated from Akron High School with the Class of 1942. On December 25, 1942 she married H. Carlton Hasty in Fort Wayne. After their marriage, she and her husband moved to Jefferson Township, Whitley County. They purchased a lake home in Thorncreek Township, and later made it their year round home until 1993, when they moved to a home located North of Columbia City. A former Blue Bell and Fortmeyers Truck Stop employee, she retired from Economy Machine Shop in 1985. She was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1906 Auxiliary, Columbia City.
Survivors include her daughter, Connie Louise Long of Grant, AL; 2 granddaughters, Amy Jo (Randal G.) Butler, also Buffy (Jeff) Neumann of Grant, AL; 2 great-grandchildren, Randi Christine (Anna) Butler of Pueblo, CO and Pvt. 1st Class Lincoln Thomas Sherman Butler of Fort Lee, VA; sister, Maxine (Brandy) Brandt of New Buffalo, MI; one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, H. Carlton Hasty, sister, Mary Belle Ferrell and brother, Harold Holloway.
Graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery with Sharon Brockhaus, Certified Funeral Celebrant, officiating. Memorial gifts may be given in memory of Mrs. Hasty to 4-H Clubs Inc. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City.
