Doris A. Byrer, 59, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. Born May 2, 1959 in Warsaw, she was the daughter of Donald F. Byrer and Elma "Ruth" (Norman) Byrer.
She graduated Warsaw High School with the Class of 1977. Doris had been a stay at home mom and volunteered with Relay for Life, Peabody Public Library and the Humane Society of Whitley County. She loved her pets and all animals. She enjoyed watching soap operas, gardening and tending to her flowers, and taking drives to Mentone to visit family and eat at Teel's Family Restaurant.
Survivors include her son, Jeremy Byrer, of Columbia City; brothers, James (Connie) Byrer, of Elkhart, Cecil Byrer, of Warsaw, Phillip (Sharon) Byrer, of Atwood and Lewis Byrer, of Etna Green; sisters, Louise Truex, of Etna Green, Ruby (Steve) Albertson, of Pierceton, Betty Russell, of Umatilla, Fla., Connie (Sid) Phillips, of Warsaw, Joyce (Tod) Giles, of Warsaw and Vickie (Jay) Boggs, of Mentone. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ron Byrer.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 12- 1:45 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
