DOROTHY ANN DAY

July 26, 1933 — January 4, 2013

Dorothy Ann Day, age 79, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 12:13 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. Born July 26, 1933 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of Joesph J. and Catherine (Gately) Lynch.

A former resident of Boston, MA and Amite, LA, she moved to Whitley County in 1984. She graduated from Mission Church High School with the Class of 1950 and attended Boston University for 2 years. On April 16, 1967, she married Henry Joseph Day in Boston, MA. She worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance, Boston, MA for 18 years and United Technologies, Columbia City, for 10 years.She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City.

Survivors include her daughter, Catherine (Kent) Tolliver of Lafayette; son, Patrick Day of North Manchester; step-son, Hank Day; 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Day who passed away September 19, 1984 and stepchildren, Michael and Ruth Day.

Visitation is 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City and from 9-10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A prayer vigil will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S. Line Street, Columbia City, with Father Gary Sigler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Day to Masses at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
