Douglas Wayne Haigwood, age 43, of Kimmell, IN passed away at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Chain-O-Lakes State Park where he had been fishing on Mudd Lake.Born on January 24, 1971 in Kenneth, MO, he was the son of Leland Wayne Haigwood and Ruth Elizabeth "Ruthie" (Gargus) McKeever.
He grew up in Kokomo and at age 16 he moved to Whitley County.He graduated from Whitko High School with the Class of 1989.Doug was a carpenter, with Carpenters Union #232, Fort Wayne.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and listening to all types of music, NASCAR and all sports especially baseball. He played on a softball co-ed league and was planning on coaching a Little League baseball team this spring.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Elizabeth "Ruthie" McKeever of Columbia City; father, Leland Wayne (Sue) Haigwood of Evening Shade, AR; three children, Sydney Beth, Gwendolyn Ruth and Wade Douglas Haigwood all of Portage, MI; brothers, Christopher Patrick Haigwood of Columbia City, Travis (Sarah Groome) Bowman of Kokomo and Gabriel Andrew (Krista) McKeever of Parker, CO; and fianc, Amy Buckles of Kimmell.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angelica Lynn Haigwood and step-father, David McKeever.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Tash of New Hope Wesleyan Church officiating.
