E. Allen Lowery

E. Allen Lowery, 82, of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his daughter-in-law's home. Born September 28, 1939 in Benzonia, Michigan, he was the son of Marshall and Bertha (Price) Lowery.

He graduated from Rock Creek High School in Indiana with the Class of 1958 and then served in the U.S. Army until 1961. On November 23, 1973, he married Mary (Shively) Dyke. In 1979, they moved from Huntington to Whitley County. Allen worked for Coastal Tank Lines, Hannis Freight Lines, T.T.I. Chemical Leaman Tank Lines and retired from Altom Tank Lines. He was a member of the Laud Christian Church and the Columbia City American Legion.

Allen is survived by his daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Jessica and Steve McCutcheon; step-son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Chrisse Dyke; and several grandchildren including Chandler, Chelsea, Hannah and Hailey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2012, Mary Lou Lowery and son, Jake Lowery in 2002.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Zion Cemetery where he will be laid to rest by his wife and son. Memorial donations may be given in his memory to Laud Christian Church.
