Edna Mae DePoy, 86, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her at 8:26 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at her residence. She was born on December 14, 1927 in Columbia City the daughter of Lee and Eva (Snepp) Walker, Sr.
Edna attended Columbia City High School and she was a Whitley County resident most of her lifetime, except for a brief period when she lived in New Haven for 5 years. She married Glenn L. DePoy on October 29, 1977 at Washington Center United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and formerly was employed at General Electric, Blue Bell and Millers Merry Manor for 10 years. She was a member of Washington Center United Methodist Church and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years Glenn L. DePoy, Columbia City; 1 daughter, Sarah E. (Kim) Rider, Columbia City; 3 grandsons, Travis L. (Belinda) Rider, Larwill, Tristan L. and Trey L. Rider both of Columbia City; 4 great grandchildren, Alexys, Andreu, Tanner and Jack; 3 sisters, Gladys Gamble and Stella Shaffer both of Columbia City and Grace (Richard) Scott, Waynedale. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lee Walker, Jr. and 2 brother in laws, Dale Gamble and Joseph Shaffer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor William Rapp of Washington Center United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow South Park Cemetery. Memorial bequest may be given in Ednas name to Heartland Hospice or Washington Center United Methodist Church.
