Edna Mae Meyer

March 7, 1937 — September 7, 2019

Friendly, hardworking, and very family oriented, are just a few ways to describe Edna Meyer. A few historical events that occurred in 1937 include events like the Hindenburg exploding that signaled the end of the flying ship as a major form of transport, the disappearance of Amelia Earhart for her round the world flight and the grand opening of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, and on March 7, 1937 in North Manchester, Indiana, the birth of Edna Mae to Norman Utter and Lova Bayshore. Shortly after her birth Edna was adopted by Ernst and Bessie Brockmeyer, where she was given a warm loving home.

Edna grew up in Columbia City and attended local schools. In her senior year of high school she met Earl Wagner, and after a brief courtship they were married on January 9, 1955. To this union three children were born; Earlene, Cozetta, and James. As her children grew up family activities were a must-do and included picnic lunches, camping at many different campsites, and even short day trips.

Edna worked for Dana Corporation and did a wide variety of jobs for over 33 years until her retirement in 1999. While there she took advantage of the company offered G.E.D. classes to earn her own in 1986, which was a great accomplishment for her. In 1987, Earl passed away. The following year Edna met Mark Meyer through her work and after a short courtship they were married on January 27, 1989. Edna enjoyed collecting Hummel figurines and crystal vases, in addition to gardening flowers, watching the wildlife around her country home, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren!

When Edna took a break from her busy activities, she could be found listening to Alan Jackson and Mickey Gilley songs or watching Dog the Bounty Hunter, Big Brother, Survivor, The Bachelor & The Bachelorette, or any home improvement show on HGTV.

Edna will always be remembered in the hearts of those who loved and knew her so well. Edna Mae Meyer, age 82, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 5:50 am on Saturday September 7, 2019 at her residence.
