Elmer Centers

Elmer Centers, age 81, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 4:30 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at The Waters, Columbia City. Born September 3, 1942, in Jackson, Kentucky, he was the son of George Lillie (Manns) Centers.

Elmer attended Breathitt County Schools. In the mid 1960's, Elmer moved to Indiana and lived with his uncle and began work at Fibre Form Corporation, where he stayed for over 30 years. He then worked at Walker Muffler and retired from Precision Plastics, Columbia City.

Elmer enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the banjo and guitar, along with listening to music.

Survivors include his sons Jeff (Amy) Centers and Greg (Michelle) Centers; grandchildren, James, Heather, Alyssa, Calen, Ryan and Sam; great-grandchildren, Luna, Chloe, Maizie; sister, Daisy (Rick) Heskett; mother to Jeff and Greg, Sue Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Maxine Centers, and brothers, Roy Lee Centers, Daniel Boone Centers and William Centers.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday May 14, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Burial in Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.
