ERNEST ELDON HARPER

December 28, 1925 — February 2, 2010

Ernest Eldon Harper, age 84, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 6:30 p.m. February 2, 2010 at his home. Born on December 28, 1925 in Warsaw, Kosciusko County, IN he was the son of Samuel W. and Eva C. (Anderson) Harper.He lived in Phoenix, AZ from 1968 to 1999 then moved to Whitley County area. He attended Coesse and Sidney Schools, graduating from Leesburg High School, Leesburg, with the Class of 1944. He served with the United States Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. On January 19, 2000, he married Martha M. Loe in Cook County, Chicago, IL. He retired from Montgomery Wards Electronic Service, Phoenix, AZ serving from 1968 to 1990. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as a High Priest and American Legion.Survivors include his wife, Martha M. Harper of Columbia City; 7 daughters, Pacienca Pung of Columbia City, Sheila (Harry) Wehner of Fowlerville, MI, Anna M. Knudsen of Phoenix, AZ, Vickie (Kenneth) L. Slade of Tuscon, AZ, Cynthia (Mel) L. Slade of El Paso, TX, Linda (Tim) L. Angle of Phoenix, AZ, Francine (Don) F. Colyer of Phoenix, AZ; 3 sisters, Ruby Sausaman of Warsaw, Viola Davis of Jenson Beach, FL and Norma Jean Loe, Provo, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jack Harper and sister, Norma Krauss.Visitation is 1-2 pm Friday, February 5, 2010 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm Friday, February 5, 2010 at the funeral home with Bishop Davon Septon of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Harper to donor's choice of charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
