Eunice Sheckler, age 82, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 4:05 pm on Friday January 7, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 12, 1939, in Primrose, Kentucky she was the daughter of Edgar and Effie (Fletcher) Kincaid.
Eunice came to Columbia City at the age of 10 and attended local schools including Columbia City High School. As a child, she enjoyed listening to her dad telling stories and singing with him on the porch. On March 31, 1956, she married Max Eugene Sheckler at the parsonage of Rev. Marion Shroyer, Columbia City. Eunice was a homemaker for most of her life raising four boys, but later worked at Fibreform and Bluebell, Columbia City.
Eunice was a member of Thorncreek Baptist Church and later Faith Baptist Church in Columbia City. She enjoyed going to garage sales, watching game shows, playing every card game possible, and spending time with family.
Survivors include her sons Anthony “Tony” (Gail) Sheckler and Chris (Julia) Sheckler, both of Columbia City, Marshall (Lana) Sheckler and Donald (Bonnie) Sheckler, both of Albion; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother Robert “Joe” (Barb) Kincaid of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-laws Nancy Kincaid of Columbia City and Thelma Kincaid of Sellersburg, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Gracie Mathias, Sara Clark, and Hazel Hollon-Richards brothers Billy, John, Melvin, Bradford, Marion, Millard, and Edgar Kincaid Jr.; grandsons Terry and Jacob Sheckler; great-granddaughter Nataly Sheckler.
Friends may call from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesday January 11, 2022, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Masks are recommended for attendance.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm at the funeral home and may be watched live through Facebook on DeMoney-Grimes Live page starting at 1:55 pm Tuesday.
Burial will follow in Stough Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial contributions in memory of Eunice may be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice Home.
