Eva Louise Vandersaul

Eva Louise Vandersaul, age 79, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 6:45 am on Saturday April 29, 2023, at Morrison Woods Healthcare, Muncie.  Born on December 31, 1943, in Anderson, she was the daughter of Elmer and Doris (Girten) Sollenberger.

Louise attended Muncie Central High School and graduated with the Class of 1962.  She then attended Ball State University, Muncie, earning her master’s degree in education.  Louise later earned an Administrator’s License, and additional graduate work at IPFW, Fort Wayne.  She started her teaching career at McKinley Elementary School, Muncie before transferring to Washington Carver Elementary School.  On June 17, 1973, she married Jimmy Vandersaul in Muncie and moved to Columbia City.  Louise continued teaching at Pierceton Elementary and later Administrator for Whitko Community Schools until her retirement in 2010.

Louise was a member of Warsaw Church of God, Indiana State and Whitley County Teacher’s Association, and Phi Delta Kappa Sorority.

Although Louise had no biological children of her own, she spent her entire life serving the Lord using her gifts of teaching.  She used her many talents, including crafting and reading, to enrich the lives of hundreds of children throughout her life.  Her gentle spirit and loving dedication have made an impact so great it will last for many generations beyond her lifetime.

Survivors include her sisters Phyllis Sollenberger and Lois (Roger) Cole, both of Muncie and Connie (Fred) Guting of Orange Park, FL; nieces Andrea Clifton and Christine Guting; nephew Christopher Guting; many more nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law JoAnn McCoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 49 years Jimmy Vandersaul.

Funeral services for Louise will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday May 8, 2023, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling from 1:00-3:00 pm.

Burial in Eberhard Cemetery, Columbia City.
