Evelyn Irene Andorfer, age 92, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Good Friday, April 22, 2011 at her home.Born November 13, 1918 in Edgerton, Ind. she was a daughter of William and Minnie (Longardner) Doty.
She graduated from New Haven High School with the Class of 1936. She then attended Ravenscroft Beauty College.She worked as a hairdresser until her marriage.On March 6, 1942, she married George M. Andorfer in Fort Wayne. She was raised in Woodburn, and then lived in Fort Wayne after her marriage until 1950. She and her husband then moved to Whitley County moving to her present Columbia City residence in 1983.A homemaker and housewife, she was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City, where she was a former member of the Rosary Society,Theo Club, and the Silver Striders.
Survivors include sons, Philip (Betty) Andorfer of Columbia City and Keith (Quennie) Andorfer of Fort Wayne; daughters, Cheryl Ball of Fort Wayne and Christine (Brad) Whiteleather of Columbia City, Charleen (James) McSwain of Decatur and Jacalyn (David) Lillich of Granger; brother, Wayne (Doris) Doty of Columbia City; 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Fett and a sister, Kathryn Boullion, 2 brothers Donald and Gaylord Doty, and great-grandson, Kurt Rigsby.
Visitation is Monday, April 25, 2011 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m.Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S. Line Street, Columbia City, with calling at 10:00 a.m. Father Larry Kramer of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church will be celebrant.Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Columbia City.Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Andorfer to Parkview Home Health and Hospice or St. Paul of the Cross St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry Fund.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
