Fay Williams

April 27, 1936 — December 11, 2016

Fay Williams, 80, of Columbia City, Indiana and formerly of Keavy, Kentucky, passed away at 8:44 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Englewood Health Rehab in Ft. Wayne. Born April 27, 1936 in Keavy, she was the daughter of Martin R. and Bessie Leanna (Alsip) Williams.

Growing up in Keavy, she attended Flatwood School and enjoyed fishing in the Laurel River with her siblings and friends. She grew up attending Level Green Baptist Church. After her oldest sister Lottie had moved to Whitley County, Indiana, Fay followed her in 1954. She worked for seven years at Blue Bell in Columbia City and Chamberlain Products in South Whitley for 13 years before the factory closed. She also had worked at the Columbia City Hardees.

Fay was an active lady who enjoyed riding her bicycle or walking around town no matter what the weather was like. She was social with her family and friends and enjoyed sitting back having conversations. She also enjoyed spending the holidays with her family, solving word puzzles, reading and designing color schemes in her adult coloring books.

Survivors include her sisters, Mazie Hollars, of South Whitley, Martha (Russell) Medley, of South Whitley, Margie (Wayne) Bennett, of Columbia City, Virginia Mills, of Barbourville, Ky. and Georgia Kranzman, of Angola; brothers, Oscar (Dovie) Williams, of Livonia, Mich., Otis Williams and Robert Williams, both of Columbia City; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lottie Wells, Leanna Grace Steele and Iva Morris; brothers, Lewis Williams, Morton Williams and Thomas Williams.

Visitation is 2-3:45 p.m. with a 4 p.m. service on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Pastor Dennis Beckner will be officiating.

Funeral services will also be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at Hart Funeral Home, 1011 Master Street, Corbin, Ky. with a visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Roger Williams will be officiating. Fay will be laid to rest by her parents, siblings and grandparents at Wells Cemetery, west of Corbin. Memorial gifts may be given in her memory to the donors choice.
