Floyd "Butch" Newcomer

Floyd S. "Butch" Newcomer, 71, of Leo, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born November 14, 1950 in Goshen, he was the son of Edward E. Sr. and Geneva J. (Lindzy) Newcomer.

Growing up in Syracuse, "Butch" played football, ran track, and wrestled. He graduated from Indiana School for the Deaf with the Class of 1970 and attended Gallaudet University. On June 16, 1973, he married Pamela Fifer in Angola. They moved to Colorado and then to California where Butch worked for McDonald-Douglas. They would move back to Colorado and after their daughter was born, moved back to Indiana. Butch had worked for Magnavox, Brammall in Angola, and currently was at the Meijer Maysville Road location in Fort Wayne.

Butch had a great sense of humor, he was intelligent, and he was easy going. He was one of the sweetest people you could meet, was funny, and could light up any room. He loved playing with his grandkids, mowing, building up computers, watching football and rooting on Notre Dame and the Colts. He was not only great at grilling, but Butch was a great cook and baker. He was a member of NIDAC.

Survivors include his loving wife, Pam Newcomer; daughter, Rosy (Kyla Gresley) Newcomer; grandchildren, Hayden, Lennon, Knox and Vada-Jane; sisters, Laura Coquillard, Patsy Summerlot and Connie Newcomer; and brother, Don Newcomer and Terry Newcomer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Newcomer Jr and Richard Newcomer; and sister, Betty Cook.

Visitation will be 12-2 pm Friday, September 30, 2022 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm. The family encourages friends to wear their favorite college or NFL gear to the funeral home.
