Francis J. Frank Hinen, age 68, of Fort Wayne, IN died at 9:56 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital of IN, Fort Wayne. Born on April 28, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN he was the son of Henry P. and Irene B. (Pequignot) Hinen.
He graduated with the Class of 1958 from Jefferson Center School. From 1958 to 1964, he served in the United States Army during the Cuban Crisis. On August 28, 1965 he married Linda A. Lehman in Roanoke, IN. A lifetime Whitley County resident who loved farming, he retired in 1998 from Fruehauf Trailer Service and Repair, Fort Wayne with 41 years of service as a journeyman. His memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #160 both of Roanoke, IN.
Survivors include his wife, Linda A. Hinen of Fort Wayne; son, Dennis R. Hinen of Fort Wayne; daughters, Michelle L. (Brian) Arnold of South Whitley, IN and Pamela S. (Chad) Smith of Placerville, CA; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Clarence (Nancy) Hinen of Fort Wayne and Arthur (Donna) Hinen of Columbia City; sisters, Mary (David) Hasty of Roanoke and Pat (Robert) Kehmeyer of Columbia City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John, Ralph, Harry, Roy and an infant brother, Robert Hinen.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. with a prayer vigil service at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 with 1 hour of calling prior to service at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N Main Street, Roanoke, IN with Father Kenneth Sarrazine officiating. Graveside military rites and burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke, IN. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Hinen to Masses or the VA Hospital.
