Franklin Marker, age 93, of Warsaw, IN passed away at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. Born July 15, 1919 in Noble County, IN, he was the son of Franklin and Renie (Hile) Marker.
He graduated from Wolf Lake High School in the late 1930s. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II building Liberty Ships and teaching artillery. He spent most of his adult lifetime in the Tri-Lakes area, moving to Warsaw about 22 years ago. For many years he worked as a maintenance supervisor for American Hoist & Derrick, Fort Wayne. He has been married for 28 years to Gladys M. Marker. He was a member of Post 253 American Legion, North Webster.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys M. Marker of Warsaw; 8 children, Frank (Dorothy) Marker, Arkansas; Joy (Wade) King, Huntsville, TX; Susan (Alan) Borneman, Fishers; Marsha Coon, Warsaw; Steven (Carol) Heeter, Nappanee; Jack (Marge Kiggler) Heeter, Leesburg; Randy (Beverly) Marker, Albion and Ronnie Marker, Lake Jackson, TX; also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores I. Marker, son, Karry L. Marker, 3 brothers, Dale, Derwood and Boyd Marker and sister, Bernice Herron.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will immediately follow calling Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Sharon Brockhaus, Certified Funeral Celebrant, officiating. Graveside military honors and committal service at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.Memorial gifts may be given in memory of Mr. Marker to the donor's choice of charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
