Geraldine Mary Cox, age 91, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor, Columbia City. Born on July 17, 1917 in Taconite, MN, she was the daughter of Harry G. and Mary A. (Nash) Ely. She spent her childhood in Detroit, MI and graduated from Southwestern High School with the Class of 1936. In 1988, she retired from Kauhman Construction, Port Huron, MI as an Office Manager with 25 years of service. After retirement, she moved to Columbia City. Survivors include her son, Alan J. (Mary Ann) Anderson of Columbia City; 3 grandchildren, Kathleen (Cort Chilian) Anderson of Fort Wayne, Eric Anderson of Columbia City and Laura (Avery) White of Centerville, OH; 10 great-grandchildren; friend, Barbara Sawicki of Gross Ile, MI; and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Ely.Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral mass is 10:00 a.m. with one hour of calling prior to service Thursday, March 26, 2009 at St. Paul of the Cross Church, 315 S Line Street, Columbia City. Father Larry Kramer will preside. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorials may be given in memory of Ms. Cox to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
