Geraldine "Gerry" Schauber

Geraldine "Gerry" Schauber, 84, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at her home. Born April 24, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN, she was the daughter of Frederick J. and Esther (Mulwee) Marshall.

Gerry grew up in Minneapolis, moved to Fort Wayne in the early 1950's and attended Central High School in Fort Wayne. On October  22, 1955, she married Harold L. Schauber and they moved to rural Columbia City. She and Harold made the move to raise chickens and then bought into a local business. For over 15 years, Gerry was a bookkeeper and secretary at Dick's TV Sales and Service before they sold the business.

Gerry had been a member of Eagles Ladies #1906, a past President of the Columbia City Lion's Club, and was a supporter and helped with the Special Olympics with bowling. She loved to bowl and was involved with many leagues. Gerry also loved to travel and would find a way to work bowling into those plans. She will be remembered for being hardworking, social and well rounded. She was very relaxed, had a heart of gold, and would help anyone in need.

Survivors include her daughter, Penny Clawson; granddaughter, Heather Clawson; grandson, Timothy Clawson; and five great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents, Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Schauber on Feb. 5, 2015 and sister, Patricia Marshall on September 16, 2018.

Visitation will be 3 to 7 pm Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to Harold.
