GLENN R. MARTIN

March 25, 1926 — May 13, 2013

Glenn R. "Spike" Martin, age 87, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 8:51 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at his home.Born on March 25, 1926 in Etna, Whitley County, he was the son of Chester Edward and Nita Gertrude (Kiester) Martin.

He lived his entire lifetime in the Etna, Whitley County area, graduating from North Webster High School with the Class of 1944. On December 30, 1949 he married Boneta "Bonnie" Vesta Coverstone. Together they spent 63 years in Etna.He worked at Weatherhead, Columbia City, as a set-up operator for 30 years, retiring in 1987.Glenn was an avid Cubs baseball fan, IU basketball fan and farming was his life.

Survivors include his wife, Boneta "Bonnie" Vesta Martin of Columbia City; sons, Dale Leon (Alisa) Martin of Scottsburg; Gary Wayne (Sherry) Martin of Columbia City; daughter, Melodie Ann (Randy) Wolfe of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and sister, Iva Jean (Jim) Knapp of Fort Wayne.He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 1:30-4:00and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Carroll McNutt officiating. Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery, Kiester Addition, Columbia City.Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Martin's memory to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or donor's choice of charity.
