Glenn Warren Willson, age 81, of 1286 West Crooked Tree, Columbia City, IN died at 3:50 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2007 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in LaPorte, IN on March 29, 1926 the son of Warren and Frances (Vanderwalker) Willson.
Moving from LaPorte County, he lived a short time in Fort Wayne and then spent his childhood in the Wells County areas. He attended Union Center High School, Wells County and entered the Navy during World War II, serving from 1944-1946. He was a former resident of Fort Wayne and in 1962 he moved to a farm in Union Township, Whitley County and in 2006, he and his wife moved to Columbia City. On August 2, 1947, he married Charlotte Joyce Hamman in Ossian, IN at the Presbyterian Church. He was employed by Peter Eckrich Sons in the refrigeration department, retiring in 1986 after almost 30 years of service. He was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City, past member of the Masonic Lodge, Whitley County Amateur Radio Club and he holds honors as a Ham Radio Operator 1992 Technician Class.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Joyce Willson, Columbia City, IN; 3 sons, Gary W. (Sally) Willson, 2040 S Lone Pine Drive, Columbia City, IN 46725 (260-248-8546); Bruce A. (Annette) Willson, 531 E Van Buren Street, Columbia City, IN 46725 and Dean E. (Patricia) Willson, 6536 Schlatter Road, Leo, IN 46765-9785 (260-627-5212); 1 daughter, Rita C. (Gale) Pittman, 2290 W 800 S, South Whitley, IN 46787 (260-723-5509); 2 sisters, June Perry, Fort Wayne, IN and Dolores Gardner, Temecula, CA; 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. August 15, 2007 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Gates officiating. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN with graveside military rites being conducted by the Whitley County Korean War Veterans. Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Willsons memory to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, IN or First Church of God. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
