Gloria J. (Wilkerson) Banker

Gloria J. Banker, 90, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023.  Born on Dec. 23, 1932, in Columbia City, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John Wilkerson and Mildred (Barber) Wilkerson.

She graduated Columbia City High School in 1969, (same graduating class as her daughter Kenda).
On Dec. 15, 1972, she married Dale Banker in Columbia City, Indiana.

Gloria was an administrative assistant at Whitley County Extension Office for 20 years and an electronic filing coordinator at H&R Block for 30+ years.

She was a charter member of the American African Violet Society and was able to name an African Violet strain. She loved planting flowers around her house and had a green thumb. She also mushroom hunted in Michigan, and other areas, including her front yard. Gloria also loved to visit craft fairs with family and friends.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Kenda (Neva Denney) Huntley; son, Roger (Linda) Huntley; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, DumDum.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dale E. Banker Sr.; stepdaughter, Cindy Voirol; and stepson, Dale E. Banker Jr.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, with a funeral service at 2 p.m., at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Indiana.
Burial will take place at South Park (Annex) Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given in memory of Gloria, to the Whitley County Humane Society.
