Grace Brower

Grace L. Brower, of Pierceton, Indiana, passed away on her 96th birthday, Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Majestic Care West. Born January 18, 1927 in Merriam, she was the daughter of Samuel Elza and Josephine A. (Rowland) Gaff.

As a child, Grace's family moved to Etna-Troy Township of Whitley County and later moved to Larwill. She graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1945. On February 17, 1946, she married Harold L. Brower in Huntington. She was a member of Larwill Wesleyan Church. Along with being a loving wife and mother, Grace had various jobs over the years along with being a homemaker. She enjoyed needlework including crocheting, and made numerous pieces for family and friends.

Grace is survived by her daughters, Wanda (Larry) Bolint, Susan (Jim) Converse and Sandra (Matthew) Courter; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and was expecting one more; and  seven great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Brower in 2013; son, Samuel L. Brower in 1975; brothers, Robert Gaff, Forrest Gaff and Jesse Gaff; twin sister, Gertrude Gaff; and sisters Carol Cool, Berniece Nickerson, Velma Miller, Ruby Horton, Pearl Secrist, Ellen Puff, Geraldine "Jeri" Dailey, Alice Parker, and infant sister Marion Gaff; granddaughter, Michele Lopshire; great-grandson, Isaac Bolint; and great-granddaughter, Kayla Courter.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, January 26, 2023 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10am, Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Beck officiating. Memorial donations may be given in memory to the family, in care of Sandra Courter.
