Gulie Molkenthin, 77, of Kimmell, Indiana, passed away at 6:58 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at her home.Born October 15, 1939 in Saluda, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Avery and Edith Hightower.
She graduated from Saluda High School and throughout her teaching career would earn a Masters degree. After being friends for several years, Gulie married Peter Molkenthin on February 14, 1993 while they were living in New York. She taught Art and English for many years while living in Texas. After retiring, she went on to work in school administration for a few years before going back into teaching at Pan Am University in Brownsville, Texas. She had attended the United Methodist Churches and was a supporter of the Saluda Historical Society and Hooves and Hounds Rescue and Rehabilitation Sanctuary. Gulie enjoyed bird watching, being outdoors, whale watching off the coast of Maine, traveling, cooking and was an animal lover. She also enjoyed educating others on their health. She had a passion for writing and Gulie also had a gift and talent for art. For the past 10 years, she and Peter have lived in rural Noble County.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Molkenthin and brother, Ronnie (JoAnn) Hightower, of Masa, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Hounds Rescue and Rehabilitation Sanctuary, P.O. Box 336, Sheridan, Texas 77475,
