Harold Butch Howie Fisher, Jr., 69, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at University Park Nursing Home. Born May 18, 1946 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Harold F. Fisher, Sr. and Geraldine Marie (Stoll) Fisher-Roebel.
A lifetime resident Allen County, Harold attended Concordia Lutheran Grace School and Central High School. While growing up, he was known as Butch to his friends. He spent 30 years on the railroad starting out in 1966 with New York Central (NYC), Penn Central, and retiring from Conrail. When he started working on the railroad he was nicknamed Howie because his co-workers thought his legal name was Howard. On September 2, 1975, he married Jean L. Cullimore. He had been a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jean Fisher; son, Jeffery A. (Janna) Fisher, of Fort Wayne; daughters, Jill Suzanne Fisher, of Fort Wayne and Cherie L. Fisher, of Lawrence, Mich.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with visitation one hour prior. Pastor David Shafer of New Life Fellowship Church will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery in Merriam. Memorials may be given in his memory to the American Heart Association.
