Harold E.Gene More, age 92, of Columbia City, IN died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Millers Merry Manor, Inc., Columbia City, IN, where he had resided since May, 2006. Born on June 21, 1915 in Allen County, IN, he was the son of Homer E. and Hallie (Waugh) More.
Gene spent his childhood in Allen County, IN and graduated from Arcola High School with the Class of 1934. On September 18, 1937 he married Margie A. Flaugh in Fort Wayne, IN. In 1938, he started the operation Whitley County Tractor Sales, currently More Farm Stores, retailing and servicing farm equipment. In 1980, he retired leaving his 2 sons, Leon and Steve, to continue his fine tradition of service. He was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church and a founding member of Columbia City Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margie A. More; 2 sons, Leon (Margie), and Steven (Gloria) More, Columbia City, IN; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Dr. Howard H. More, and daughter-in-law, Jill More.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Arnold of Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Mores memory to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, PO Box 17279, Baltimore, MD 21297-0495 or American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc., Parkinson Plaza, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305-1425.
