Harold E. Snyder, age 84, of Dayton, Ohio died on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.He was born on June 22, 1927 to Otis D.E. and Rosa I. (Ebersole) Snyder in Columbia City.
He graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1945.He then joined the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict from 1945-1947.He was the owner and operator of the Standard Gas Station located at Lincolnway and SR 5.He also was a general farmer.Born and raised in Indiana he has made Ohio his home for the last 20 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen (Chuck) Bandelier of Columbia City, sons, Carl Snyder of Nappanee, Ind. and John (Patricia) Snyder of Antwerp, Ohio, and daughter, Brenda (Denny) McCormick of Bourbon, Ind.; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.A memorial service will follow visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Stiffler of Warsaw Missionary Church officiating.Burial will be at a later date at South Park Cemetery, Columbia City.Memorials in memory of Harold can be made to the donor's choice of charity.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
