Helen E. Cozad

July 23, 1923 — June 20, 2016

Helen Cozad, 92, of Greenwood and formerly of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 8:34 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at her home. Born July 23, 1923 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Bert and Mary (Robbins) Walker.

She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1941. After meeting the man of her dreams at the skating rink in Columbia City, she married Kenneth Cozad on June 25, 1943 by Rev. Marion Shroyer. Helen went on to work at GE during the end of WWII and at Farmers Loan and Trust for over 29 years. She was a member of the American Legion and Eagles and was an avid bowler who also enjoyed golf and traveling with her husband.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Cozad of Greenwood, daughters, Sandra Sam (Richard Dick) Cullers, of Greenwood, Shirley Robbins and Shari Bechtold, both of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a 23 year old cat, Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Florence Argerbright; brothers, Paul and Robert Walker; and son-in-law, Vernon Robbins.

Visitation is Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will follow at South Park (Annex) Cemetery.
